Off Duty Officer Has Paranormal Encounter
While I can’t say what everyone thinks during their tour or visit to the Bradshaw Ranch, this guy made it very clear.
During the evening’s photo-op and while standing with his back to the fence, someone grabbed his leg firmly from the other side, effectively sending him in my direction. This really freaked him out and he immediately requested we leave, forgetting all the male macho talk of course!
After we returned to the store we spent a few minutes talking in the parking lot before he went home.
It just so happened he was a veteran police officer of more than twelve years on the force. I asked him if he was packing his gun during the tour and he said yes. I then asked him if he felt tempted to reach for his gun after being grabbed. This time his answer was no.
The photos above are in the order I was able to snap them. (Left) the shot wasn’t quite ready and I needed him to back up to the fence. He was grabbed an instant later. (Middle) the shot after he ran toward me and refused to go back to the fence. (Right) after some coaxing he finally neared the fence, but remained about six feet away. We got him out of there after this final photo.
It also came out during our discussion that he’s experienced moments of premonition or spontaneous visions where he’s able to see something related to a case he is working on, eventually solving it or greatly aiding in a criminal investigation.
This isn’t the first time someone’s been “touched”, but it was one of the funniest.
You see, throughout the tour and skywatch he kept making comments about how he felt one way, but was “supposed” to act macho (or that he felt it was expected of him). Until I learned he was a cop, it never really fit in. I mean, a lot of guys come out and may act macho with others present, especially their girlfriend or wife, but it’s never come up with just one guy on the tour.
This is why it’s one of my funniest encounters. He was supposed to come off all macho (cop-talk I suppose), but as soon as someone touched him, none of that mattered. All he wanted to do was leave!
